Wikis, conversing, personality

I think wikis is something than can be used to obtain some information. The problem with wikis is that anyone is allowed to change or alter the definition of information about any given title. So if students were to look up something how would you know if they are getting the correct information or not. I personality do not think I would be able to use this in my own classroom, I would rather know the students are getting 100% correct information.

I believe conversing is a more effective way of students learning information. Not only are they not bored to death by the teacher just talking for a long while but they are also getting to interact with their peers. I believe working in small groups makes student more kind to others around them and helps them learn about new people they normally wouldn’t talk to. Two classrooms needs to set up a lesson plan one that is a traditional classroom and the other is the conversing classroom. At the end of the semester see what students learned more information and how they retained it.

I strongly believe that students have different learning styles because of their personalities. I think that personality test was spot on with my own personality. I will have each student take that test because I do believe it will help be understand them a lot more. I will be able to adjust to students needs and will be able to stick them into groups that will work well together.

Spreadsheet

I think that spreadsheet is a great tool for students to learn because they will be able to use this program many more times in the future either for college or in the workplace. I personality enjoy using the spreadsheet for a gradebook. It is much easier than using a calculator or anything in that matter. I would use spreadsheet in the classroom for showing the students visual examples on how to do a project if needed. I believe the three primary functions for a spreadsheet are spot on. You can create just about anything with excel and keep calculations at the same time!

Week 3

I think Inspiration is a great program to use in the classroom. I have a few great ideas that would work in my health classes. I believe that this program would be a great tool for history classes more than my health classes but it is still useful in all classrooms.

I would have my students write about their family tree and use inspiration in order to do so. Not only will this get all the students involved in finding out about their family tree, but it will also get the students interacting with each other. They can help find information about their family's and also learn new information they may have not already know about the other students. With the Inspiration program the students will be able to draw their family trees and add and information or pictures they have found from this project.

Blogging in the Classroom

I think that blogging is something unique and allows people to take about what is going on in their life. It is a way to get things off their chest without having to talk to people.

I think blogging in school would be a great thing to do even though many people see it as a waste of time for students, I believe that this is a way for students to communicate with each other and for the teacher to know how the students feel about what is going on in class. I think it would be a great education tool to bring to schools.

Even though kids today have a lot of knowledge with working on computers, I think blogging would be a great way to help teach students about computers and technology especially those kids who's parents can not afford for them to have a computer. By blogging, it will better supply the students with knowledge of the computer for the future. In Chapter 6 on page 105 it states that students gain more knowledge from building their own know than just receiving and reprocessing it. With blogging in the class room this will construct a better environment for students to be able to build their own knowledge.

My Life

My name is Lori Welch. I am a Junior/Senior at a&m commerce. Hope to graduate next December. I am the baby of the family, my sister is three years older than I am. I am 26 with no kids anytime soon! I have a wonderful niece brooklyn who is almost 2, and a nephew brayden who is be here in about 3 weeks. My parents have been divorced since I was 2 and have been best friends since. My mother still comes to my dads family Christmas and get together's. Many people think that is crazy but it has always been a great things for us. I am just like my dad. He has lived in Mississippi for the last 8 years now and I lived down there with him for a year when I was 20. I went to school in Rowlett and graduated from Rowlett High School in 2000. I work at Outback in Mesquite and have been there for a little over 4 years and do everything and anything within that store. In my free time I play softball and soccer and go to the lake as much as possible. I have dyslexia and adhd and went to Scottish Rite hospital everyday from 12 till 3:30 in 1st and 2nd grade. I always missed history and science, so needless to say I really don't care much for those subjects. I guess that's about it about me.
